Job Description
Overview
Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Assistant and play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical operations. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment where your skills in dental assisting, infection control, and patient management will make a meaningful difference. You will assist dentists during procedures, ensure clinical protocols are followed, and contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere for all patients.
Duties
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management policies.
Assist dentists during various procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow with four-handed dentistry techniques.
Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
Manage patient records and medical documentation accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
Monitor vital signs and assist with patient care before, during, and after treatments, providing excellent customer service as a dental receptionist when needed.
Follow dental sterilization procedures rigorously to prevent infection transmission, utilizing aseptic techniques and adhering to healthcare infection prevention and control standards.
Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments using patient management software and managing medical records efficiently.
Requirements
Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and procedures.
Proficiency in dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, X-ray taking, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing patient records and documentation.
Strong understanding of infection control practices, including healthcare infection prevention protocols and aseptic technique.
Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry as well as medical terminology related to oral health conditions.
Ability to perform medical imaging procedures accurately while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
