Job Overview:
We are seeking a Dental Assistant (DA or RDA) to join our Pediatric dental team. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality dental care to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting the dentist during procedures, preparing treatment rooms, and ensuring the comfort of patients.
Duties:
- Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures by sterilizing and arranging instruments and equipment
- Assist the dentist during procedures by handing them instruments, suctioning, and providing patient support
- Take dental x-rays as directed by the dentist
- Perform dental charting and maintain accurate patient records
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions
- Provide support to the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and handling insurance claims
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and ensure aseptic technique is followed at all times
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of dental supplies
Skills:
- Knowledge of dental systems, procedures, and terminology
- Proficient in infection control protocols and maintaining aseptic technique
- Understanding of dental anatomy and oral health conditions
- Experience in dental assisting techniques and procedures
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
- Knowledge of dental receptionist duties including scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Familiarity with medical imaging techniques used in dentistry
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
- Dental Assistant certification or license required (state-specific)
- Coronal polishing certificate
- X-ray certification (state-specific)
- CPR certification preferred
