Job Overview

Duties
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols.
Assist dentists chairside during various procedures, including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing necessary tools and support.
Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
Manage patient records accurately using Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
Perform vital signs assessments and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care, especially in pediatric dentistry or patients with special needs.
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
Maintain a clean and sterile environment by following aseptic techniques, infection control standards, and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
Qualifications
Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and managing dental terminology.
Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy.
Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience supporting pediatric patients is highly desirable.
Certification in dental assisting or related field preferred; ongoing training in medical coding or advanced imaging technologies is advantageous.
