Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Dental Assistant to oversee clinical operations within our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive clinical expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care. As the Dental Assistant, you will coordinate daily clinical activities, support staff development, and ensure adherence to all safety and infection control protocols, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Duties
Supervise and mentor dental assisting staff, promoting best practices in clinical procedures and patient management.
Oversee the preparation, sterilization, and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention policies.
Assist dentists during various procedures including oral surgery, endodontics and pediatric dentistry treatments.
Manage patient flow efficiently using patient management software such as Dentrix Ascend.
Support the implementation of clinical protocols related to infection control, aseptic techniques, and dental sterilization procedures.
Collaborate with the reception team to facilitate patient check-in/out processes while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Maintain detailed knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding, and healthcare infection prevention practices to ensure high-quality patient care.
Experience
Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a pediatric or general dentistry setting with a minimum of two years in a clinical environment or a graduate of a dental assisting program.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities with prior experience supervising or leading a dental assisting team.
Proficiency in Dentrix Ascend is an asset.
Strong understanding of dental equipment operation including X-ray machines.
Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures aligned with healthcare standards.
Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and the unique needs of young patients is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills coupled with a thorough understanding of dental terminology, medical records management, and clinical confidentiality policies.
