Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our vibrant dental practice. This role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring a seamless patient experience from check-in to treatment completion. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and passionate about providing excellent patient care while managing administrative tasks efficiently. You will be the first point of contact for patients, handling scheduling, insurance verification, and medical records, as well as assisting with clinical procedures and maintaining a clean, organized office environment. Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling using dental office management software
Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accurate billing and coding with CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes
Collect payments, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries utilizing Meditech or Athenahealth platforms
Prepare patient charts, update medical histories, and review documentation for accuracy in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Assist dental providers during procedures by sterilizing instruments and preparing dental supplies while adhering to infection control protocols
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper filing of dental charts and administrative documents
Answer multi-line phone systems professionally with excellent phone etiquette; schedule appointments and answer patient inquiries efficiently
Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and maintaining office supplies
Ensure compliance with health information management standards by reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy
Experience
Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred; familiarity with dental terminology and medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) is essential
Demonstrated proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software platforms like eClinicalWorks or Meditech
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with experience using multi-line phone systems and digital imaging software
Knowledge of insurance verification processes for various plans including Medicare and Medicaid; experience with medical billing is a plus
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Bilingual abilities are advantageous to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Previous experience in a healthcare setting involving intake procedures, care plans, or hospital experience is beneficial
