Job Description
Job Title: Dental Assistant (Front & Back Office Float)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a versatile and dependable Dental Assistant to support both clinical (back office) and administrative (front office) operations. This role is designed for flexibility—assisting where needed throughout the day—while maintaining a clear focus on one area at a time to ensure efficiency and quality of care. The ideal candidate is organized, patient-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Back Office (Clinical Duties):
Seat and prepare patients for treatment in a welcoming and professional manner
Assist the dentist chairside during procedures
Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after treatment
Set up and break down operatories efficiently
Maintain strict sterilization and infection control protocols
Manage and coordinate the operatory schedule to maximize patient flow and minimize team stress
Keep treatment rooms fully stocked and organized
Front Office (Administrative Duties):
Answer incoming calls in a friendly and professional manner
Schedule and confirm patient appointments
Process patient payments and assist with basic financial transactions
Support front office team with daily administrative tasks
Provide excellent customer service to patients in person and over the phone
Work Structure:
This is a floating position between back and front office duties
The assistant will focus on one area at a time and will not be expected to perform both roles simultaneously
Responsibilities will shift throughout the day based on practice needs
Qualifications:
Previous dental assisting experience preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
Familiarity with dental software systems is a plus
