Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Dental Assistant/Receptionist, where you will be the friendly face and efficient organizer behind our busy dental practice. This vital role combines clinical support with front desk responsibilities, ensuring smooth daily operations and exceptional patient care. You will assist with dental procedures, manage patient appointments, handle insurance verifications, and provide outstanding customer service—all while maintaining accurate medical records and supporting the overall clinic workflow. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment for every patient.
Duties
Greet patients warmly, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-in and check-out processes using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments, taking x-rays, and ensuring patient comfort
Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth
Maintain accurate dental records and review documentation for completeness and compliance with HIPAA regulations
Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, answer inquiries, and coordinate appointment scheduling
Perform administrative tasks including filing medical records, updating patient information in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like eClinicalWorks or Meditech
Support medical coding activities by applying CPT codes, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and ensuring proper documentation review for billing accuracy
Requirements
Proven experience in a dental office setting or healthcare environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical administrative support
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; experience with Epic or Meditech is a plus
Knowledge of insurance verification processes, medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT), and Medicare guidelines
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and typing (10-key) skills for data entry
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly demeanor and professional phone etiquette
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations
Previous clinic or medical office experience is preferred; familiarity with hospital or healthcare settings is advantageous
Ability to adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
