Duties
Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments, taking x-rays, and ensuring patient comfort.
Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Conduct insurance verification, process claims, and perform medical billing using ICD-10/ICD-9 coding and CPT coding standards to ensure accurate reimbursement.
Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, answer inquiries, and coordinate appointment scheduling efficiently.
Maintain organized filing of dental records, medical documentation review, and ensure all documentation aligns with health information management standards.
Support administrative tasks such as billing collections, data entry, and office supply management to keep the clinic running smoothly.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or Medical Receptionist within a dental or medical clinic environment.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing processes.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (10 key typing).
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person; bilingual abilities are a plus.
Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations while maintaining confidentiality.
Strong organizational skills with experience in office management tasks like filing, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and documentation review.
