Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our vibrant dental practice. This role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring a seamless patient experience from appointment scheduling to treatment. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and passionate about providing exceptional patient care while maintaining efficient office operations. You will be the first point of contact for patients and play a vital role in supporting the clinical team with dental procedures and documentation.

Duties
Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and perform insurance verification to facilitate smooth appointments
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software such as Dolphin/ Open Dental
Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and ensuring patient comfort
Maintain accurate and up-to-date dental records, including documentation review and filing of medical records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Meditech or Epic
Process payments, handle medical billing and collections efficiently while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
Support clinic operations by managing intake forms, updating care plans, and coordinating with insurance providers for claims processing
Skills
Proven experience in dental office settings with knowledge of dental terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing practices
Strong computer skills including proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office), dental practice management systems (Dentrix, Eaglesoft), EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks), and specialized platforms like Athenahealth or Carestream
Familiarity with health information management standards such as HIPAA compliance and documentation review processes
Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently
Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Experience with insurance verification procedures including Medicare and Medicaid claims processing
Knowledge of medical terminology related to dentistry and general healthcare practices
Strong organizational skills for filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and office management tasks
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in medical records and documentation review
Prior clinic or hospital experience is highly desirable for understanding healthcare workflows
