Job Overview

Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry by preparing treatment areas and handing instruments efficiently. Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while adhering to infection control protocols. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support patient care by taking vital signs, reviewing medical history, and explaining procedures clearly to ensure comfort and understanding. Prepare treatment rooms with aseptic techniques, sterilize instruments, and maintain a clean environment following infection control standards. Assist with medical imaging procedures including 3D scanning when necessary for comprehensive diagnostics. Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and manage patient flow efficiently.
Requirements
Previous experience working in a dental clinic or similar healthcare environment is preferred but not required; training will be provided for all technical skills. Proficiency with dental software such practice web, open dental. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and patient information. Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow and patient comfort. Understanding of infection control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Excellent communication skills to explain treatments clearly to pediatric patients and their families. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring the confidentiality of all medical records and sensitive information.
