Duties
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry
Take and develop dental X-ray images using advanced medical imaging technology, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols in accordance with HIPAA regulations and dental x-ray safety standards
Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, including updating medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes
Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and ensuring comfort throughout visits
Support patient management software systems for scheduling appointments, follow-ups, and managing patient flow efficiently
Follow strict infection control protocols including aseptic technique, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures to uphold clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare infection prevention standards
Experience
Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental equipment, medical records management, and clinical confidentiality policies is essential
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry, and proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix are advantageous
Hands-on experience with dental X-ray techniques, oral surgery assistance, endodontics procedures, prosthodontics support, and pediatric dentistry is desirable
Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise along with aseptic technique practices is required
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with dentists, hygienists, patients, and administrative staff are necessary to succeed in this role
