Job Description
We are searching for a Dental Assistant to join our team of professionals. The position available is part time, with opportunity and expectation to cover for teammates. The starting pay will commensurate with RDA certification or experience.
Dental Assistants greatly increase the efficiency of the dentist in the delivery of quality oral health care and are valuable members of the dental care team. If you have strong communication skills, enjoy working with your hands as well as your mind and want a career with responsibility, dental assisting is for you.
The assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills.
Responsibilities may include:
A variety of clinical skills including, but not limited to: taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays) and taking impressions
Preparing trays and treatment rooms for dental procedures
Reviewing clinical history and medical history and taking blood pressure
Serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
Providing patients with instructions for oral care following dental treatment procedures
Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;
Performing documentation and office management tasks that require the use of a computer including patient charting and entering treatment information
Communicating with suppliers (e.g., ordering supplies) and equipment technicians
Stocking inventory, including lifting and carrying packages up to 50lbs
Desired Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and the ability to thrive in both team and self-management environments
Superb written and oral communication skills, including grammar proficiency and the ability to read and understand technical materials
Ability to think critically and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment
Proficiency and confidence with computer skills
Ability to adapt to changes
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated reliability and punctuality
High level of hand-eye coordination necessary for fine motor control and full manual dexterity, including the functioning of both arms, both wrists, both hands and all fingers.
Physical strength to perform CPR for an extended time, work 8 hours sitting, standing and moving and lifting equipment up to 50 lbs.
