As the Dental Assisting Business Instructor, you play a critical role in educating the next generation of dental assistants on the frontend of a dental practice. Using MedQuest College’s pre-approved curriculum as your guide, you will educate students on the front-office/back-office aspect of the dental practice. You will work directly with the DA Program Director to ensure that all courses are taught effectively and that students receive the superior level of education that they have come to expect from MedQuest College.
A Dental Assisting Instructor does more than teach students. He/she serves as a role model and is often one of the first impressions students receive in their chosen career path. It is important to understand the responsibility that comes along with this position.
Summary of essential job functions and responsibilities:
Direct instruction of students in the Dental Assisting program.
Effectively manage classroom (virtual or residential) to ensure educational content is delivered in a safe and effective manner.
Carries out initiatives directed towards the achievement of the College’s retention goals.
Makes recommendations on the selection of text and other instructional support material.
Establish and manage protocols and best practices to help develop strong course materials, etc.
Utilize effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly both internally and publicly;
Participate in professional development activities that are aligned with College, departmental and individual goals;
Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives;
Learn and use the learning management system and other electronic systems that house student data;
Become familiar with academic policies in the catalog and Student Handbook;
Abide by FERPA policies as it relates to students’ education records;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Summary of qualifications:
Must have at least 3 years of related experience
Dentrix and/or Eaglesoft experience is preferred
Previous teaching experience is encouraged but not required
Standardized curriculum will be provided
RDA/CDA certification a plus but not required
Other Required Skills & Abilities:
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational ability and the ability to meet deadlines;
Must have the ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student population;
Must be a self-starter who works well in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented and culturally diverse environment;
Must be perceptive and patient, with strong people skills and a willingness to assist others;
Demonstrated ability to organize, implement and facilitate workshop, programs and informational presentations;
Demonstrated ability to build rapport in developing meaningful relationships with students and colleagues;
Ability to demonstrate ownership, accountability and teamwork;
Ability to focus on results and to commit to excellence;
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
May be susceptible to eyestrain, back discomfort, and hand/wrist problems due to long periods working on a computer;
Occasional stress may occur from volume and deadlines;
Demands normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity;
Must be mobile throughout the campus;
May be some walking, standing, bending or carrying light items.
