Job Description:
Title: Dental Clinic Assistant
Department: Health
Reports to: Clinical Operations Manager: Dental Programs
Date: August 18, 2026
General Summary: The Dental Programs Part-time Clinic Assistant will provide support for the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting Clinic. This includes extensive contact with the patients, the students and the faculty in the program. Performs related duties as required. Provide occasional front desk support for the Dental Hygiene Clinic. The individual who serves in this position must possess a strong customer service orientation and represents the college in a positive manner to clinic patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Clinic Operations Manager (COM) to provide support and assistance to faculty and students during clinic sessions.
Prepare instruments for disinfection, sterilization and recirculation with student assistance.
Implement and document quality assurance protocols relative to sterilization and clinic equipment.
Daily assessment of clinic and laboratory equipment and supplies, reporting needs to COM
Maintain organization of instruments, supplies and equipment in COM's absence.
Facilitate procedures to ensure proper opening and/or closing of the clinic daily.
Collaborate with student clinic manager to ensure proper instrument processing, clinic operations, and stocking of clinic.
Collaborate/communicate with faculty, administrators and other staff in carrying out assigned job responsibilities.
Provides customer service in a way that represents the college in a positive manner.
Provide assistance to patients as needed.
Provide assistance to faculty, staff and students as needed
Provides assistance to students in scheduling patients and in the maintenance of secure records.
Front desk duties as needed, including scheduling appointments, patient check-in, and accepting payments.
Retrieving and stocking supplies, lifting and moving equipment up to 15 lbs.
Requirements:
Currently enrolled student of Middlesex Community College
Completion of at least 12 credits with a minimum 2.5 GPA and current enrollment in college-level courses.
High School diploma or GED
Experience working in the medical or dental field
Prior training in Standard Precautions and Sterilization Procedures
Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language including spelling, word meaning, and word usage
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes and/or symbols.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written expression.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to work collaboratively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPR Certification
Registered dental assistant
Additional Information:
Salary: $18.75 per hour in accordance with Middlesex Community College's PT Wage Schedule
Location: Lowell Campus
Hours: 9 hours per week, Monday 2pm-6pm, Thurs 2pm-6pm
Expected Start Date: September 2026
