Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will work alongside our dental professionals to provide exceptional patient care and support. Your role will involve assisting with various dental procedures, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed, and maintaining accurate records. We are a small office that is focused on working seamlessly as a team to provide comfortable, compassionate care to all of our patients.
Duties:
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures
- Assist dentists during dental procedures, including passing instruments, suctioning, and providing patient comfort
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating Essix retainers, and sterilizing instruments
- Assisting with procedures including exams, fillings, crowns, dentures, clear aligner therapy
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality
- Adhere to medical documentation standards for accurate record keeping
- Help maintain the cleanliness of the office including water lines, floors,
Experience:
The following skills and qualifications are required to be considered for this role:
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or completion of a dental assisting program (at least 3 years is preferred).
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment
- Familiarity with dental assisting procedures, including chairside assisting, taking impressions, and using an intraoral scanner.
- Ability to perform patient assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting medical history
- Strong knowledge of dental anatomy and terminology
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality
- Excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate dental records
- Strong time-keeping and multi-tasking skills.
