Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Front Desk and Insurance Coordinator to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, exceptional customer service abilities, and comprehensive knowledge of dental and medical billing, insurance processes, and electronic health record systems. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, manage appointment scheduling, verify insurance coverage, and ensure accurate documentation to support efficient clinic operations. Your expertise will help create a welcoming environment while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
Duties
Greet patients warmly and provide outstanding front desk support, including answering multi-line phone systems and managing patient inquiries with professionalism.
Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring optimal patient flow.
Verify insurance benefits and coverage details through systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or EMR systems to facilitate accurate billing and claims processing.
Review medical and dental documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Process insurance claims accurately using CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing procedures to maximize reimbursement.
Maintain patient records meticulously within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or other clinic-specific platforms.
Assist with medical collection efforts by following up on unpaid balances and coordinating with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies.
Support office management tasks including filing, data entry, document review, and maintaining a clean and organized front desk environment.
Provide exceptional patient service by addressing concerns promptly, explaining treatment plans clearly, and ensuring a positive experience throughout their visit.
Experience
Proven experience in a dental or medical office environment with a focus on front desk operations and insurance coordination.
Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of insurance verification processes for Medicare, Medicaid, private insurers, and other healthcare programs.
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and familiarity with office management software like Athenahealth or Meditech.
Excellent communication skills with a focus on phone etiquette and customer service excellence in a fast-paced clinic setting.
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
