Job Summary
Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Front Desk/Assistant, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This energetic position combines front desk responsibilities with clinical assisting duties, offering a comprehensive experience in a fast-paced dental environment. You will be the friendly face patients see first and the skilled professional supporting our clinical team behind the scenes. Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly, verify appointments, and manage patient check-in and check-out processes using patient management software.
Schedule appointments efficiently, confirm upcoming visits, and handle rescheduling as needed to optimize clinic flow.
Collect and update patient medical histories, vital signs, and insurance information while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments according to infection prevention management protocols and dental sterilization procedures.
Assist dentists during procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
Take dental X-rays and operate medical imaging equipment like 3D scanners while adhering to safety standards for dental x-ray procedures.
Maintain accurate medical documentation and records, including medical terminology and dental terminology entries, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Support clinical staff with chairside assisting during four-handed dentistry sessions, including handling dental instruments and managing patient comfort.
Manage administrative tasks such as answering phones, handling billing inquiries, processing payments, and coordinating referrals or follow-up appointments.
Ensure the clinic remains organized by managing dental instrument processing, sterilization logs, and inventory of dental equipment.
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental clinic operations is essential.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Open Denetal, or similar patient management software is required.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and patient privacy is mandatory.
Hands-on experience with dental X-ray procedures, infection control practices, and sterilization techniques is essential for success in this role.
Strong understanding of dental terminology—including procedures like oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics—and general dentistry workflows.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially in general dentistry settings when applicable.
Certification or training in medical imaging or dental assisting is advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn on the job is valued.
