Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Front Office Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a welcoming demeanor, and strong organizational abilities. This role is vital in ensuring smooth daily operations by managing patient interactions, appointment scheduling, and administrative tasks with precision and care. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in medical billing, insurance processing, and electronic health record management while maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality policies. Dentrix software knowledge and/or a desire to learn fast are essential.
Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and providing outstanding patient service.
Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily workflow.
Verify patient insurance coverage, process claims, and handle medical collections accurately using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR systems), ensuring all documentation review and data entry comply with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
Manage phone communication with professionalism, providing clear information about services, appointment reminders, and follow-up instructions.
Assist with medical billing procedures, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare claims processing to ensure accurate reimbursement.
Support administrative functions such as filing medical records, performing 10-key typing tasks, and managing office supplies to sustain an organized front desk environment.
Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure seamless patient flow within the clinic setting.
Knowledge of taking xrays, Sterilization and dental office management is a plus.
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in medical office management systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar EMR/EHR platforms.
Strong knowledge of health insurance procedures including claims submission, authorization processes, and Medicare guidelines.
Experience with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10) and medical billing practices is essential for accurate documentation review and reimbursement processes.
Bilingual abilities are advantageous to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
Proven clerical experience supporting front desk operations within a busy healthcare setting.
Excellent computer skills with familiarity in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and communication purposes.
