Dental Hygiene Assistant

Costa Dentistry is a modern dental practice looking for an experienced and positive Hygiene Assistant to join our Ashburn team! The Hygiene Assistant will provide support to the clinical team and maintain excellent communication with the patients. The Hygiene Assistant will work directly with the hygienists and clinical team to help provide the patient with the highest quality care during their appointment. Responsibilities:
Welcome patients to the office for their appointment and seat them in the treatment room
Prepare treatment room for the patient following office procedures and protocols
Review patient notes and charts for treatment information before arrival
Prepare patients for dental treatment by creating a calm and welcoming environment and help educate patients by answering any questions about treatment
Sterilize and deliver instruments to the treatment area, ensuring all instruments are clean
Assist hygienists by positioning instruments for hygienist’s access, and passing instruments during treatment
Provide the hygienist with materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth, ensuring a conservative use of dental resources to accomplish the task
Educate patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions
Document and charts patient notes and records in Eaglesoft
Schedule patients' future visits and ensure a positive experience was maintained throughout their visit
Maintain a safe and clean work environment by sanitizing the treatment room after each patient and ensuring it is ready for the next appointment
Proven experience as dental assistant
Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
Understanding of health & safety regulations
Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus
Good computer skills
Excellent communication and people skills
Attention to detail
Well-organized and reliable
High school diploma
Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)
Job Requirements
Foreign-trained dentist who has successfully passed the Virginia dental hygiene licensing examination (or is eligible for licensure).

Minimum high school graduate
Dental experience
Radiology certified
CDA Preferred
OSHA/HIPAA and CPR certified a must
