Job Description
Support dental hygienists and dentists in delivering high-quality preventive care by preparing operatories, assisting during hygiene procedures, maintaining sterilization and instrument inventory, and providing excellent patient service.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain operatories for hygiene appointments (set up trays, supplies, barriers).
Assist during hygiene procedures (saliva ejector, instrument passing, patient comfort).
Perform instrument sterilization, processing, and packaging per OSHA/CDC guidelines.
Take digital x-rays and intraoral photos as delegated.
Chart clinical findings and record treatment details in the practice management system.
Perform chairside infection control and environmental cleaning between patients.
Provide patient education on oral hygiene, home care, and postoperative instructions.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations (OSHA, HIPAA).
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certified North Carolina Dental Assistant
Current CPR certification.
North Carolina Radiography certification and North Carolina Coronal Polishing certification
Knowledge of sterilization procedures, infection control, and basic dental terminology.
Skills:
Strong chairside assisting and infection-control skills.
Excellent interpersonal and patient-service skills; compassionate and professional.
Attention to detail.
