Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Hygiene Assistant to join our vibrant dental team! In this vital role, you will support dentists and dental hygienists by providing exceptional patient care, managing clinical workflows, and ensuring a smooth operation of daily dental procedures. Duties
Assist dental professionals during patient examinations and procedures, including chairside assisting with dental instruments and equipment.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection prevention management protocols.
Take and develop dental x-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality policies.
Monitor vital signs and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care, especially for pediatric patients or those undergoing oral surgery or prosthodontics procedures.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive strategies to promote long-term dental health.
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed to enhance patient management software workflows.
Experience
Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or oral surgery cases.
Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document patient information.
Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
Knowledge of dental sterilization procedures, infection control standards, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention practices.
Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques and medical imaging tools like 3D scanners is advantageous.
Strong understanding of dental equipment operation including intraoral cameras, endodontic tools, prosthodontic devices, and other clinical instruments.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members—including dental assistants—and provide outstanding patient care in a fast-paced environment focused on general dentistry and pediatrics.
