Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to inform treatment plans.
Assist the dentist during procedures such as examinations, restorations, and other dental treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques.
Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
Monitor infection control procedures and sterilization processes to uphold the highest standards of safety within the dental clinic.
Review medical records for accuracy and completeness; assist with medical coding when necessary for billing purposes.
Support the dental team by managing inventory of supplies and ensuring all equipment is properly maintained.
Skills
Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and billing.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures.
Experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable to effectively care for young patients.
Skilled in chairside assisting techniques with an emphasis on pediatric dentistry when applicable.
Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and recognize signs of medical emergencies.
Familiarity with EMR systems, documentation review, and medical coding processes.
Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization standards within a dental setting.
Excellent patient care skills with compassionate communication tailored to diverse patient populations including pediatrics.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations governing patient privacy and data security in healthcare environments.
