Job Description – Dental Hygienist – Tuesdays -Flexible Shift
Location: Eau Claire, WI Category: Dental
Job Type: Part-Time, Grant-Funded LTE Supervisor: Dental Manager
Role & Responsibilities
The role of dental hygienist is to promote dental health by completing dental prophy’s, providing oral cancer screenings, charting conditions of decay and disease, and performing all procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act. Dental Hygienists must possess a current license to practice dental hygiene in the state of Wisconsin and be in good standing to practice their profession.
This position is an estimated 4 hours per week
Job Duties
· Document all dentally relevant information including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals in the patient chart on blue, paper forms provided.
· Take patients’ blood pressure and assess when premedication is needed.
· Remove hard and soft deposits from patients’ teeth by performing dental prophylaxis: including polishing, hand, and ultrasonic instrumentation.
· Perform periodontal assessments.
· Provide dental screenings when needed to assess acute, chief complaint.
· Take diagnostically correct dental radiographs.
· Provide nutritional counseling and its impact on oral health.
· Provide oral hygiene instruction/patient education.
· Follow OSHA guidelines for PPE, cross-contamination, sterilization, and storage of dental instruments and supplies.
· Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic policies and procedures.
· Maintain a clean and safe working environment[MW1] .
Qualifications / Experience
· Registered Dental Hygienist in the State of Wisconsin
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work independently and within a team structure
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
· Working knowledge of various software and database technology, including Microsoft Office
· Demonstrates respect for diversity
· Awareness of psychosocial barriers that impact the lives of the uninsured
· Embraces and supports the mission of the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $42.00 - $45.00 per hour
