Duties
Perform dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain oral health.
Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, treatment options, and post-procedure care to promote long-term dental health.
Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures, to ensure a safe clinical environment for patients and staff.
Skills
Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and procedures used in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry.
Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and caring for pediatric patients in a clinical setting.
Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on four-handed dentistry for efficiency.
Ability to accurately perform X-ray procedures while adhering to safety standards.
Familiarity with medical imaging, vital signs measurement, and patient assessment techniques.
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique.
Excellent communication skills for patient education and documentation review.
Understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, and electronic health record management for comprehensive documentation.
