Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort.
Digital dental imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding of dental health.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, medical histories, and insurance information on Open Dental.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling sensitive medical information appropriately.
Qualifications
Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state requirements.
Proven experience in dental office settings with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation.
Proficiency in using Open Dental or similar for record keeping.
Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and anatomy knowledge relevant to dental care.
Experience working with pediatric patients and pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
