Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque, tartar, and stains.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current oral health status.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health.
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and patient comfort.
Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and clinical notes in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Experience
Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical coding standards.
Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping.
Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining a compassionate approach to patient care.
Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and medical imaging techniques relevant to dental hygiene practice.
Previous experience with infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and maintaining sterile environments in dental clinics.
