Job Summary

Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure optimal oral health.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while adhering to safety protocols.
Conduct patient assessments by measuring vital signs, reviewing medical history, and evaluating oral health status to inform treatment plans.
Educate patients on proper dental care practices, including brushing, flossing techniques, and the importance of regular check-ups.
Assist with dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix), documenting all treatments, observations, and patient interactions thoroughly.
Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Support the dental team with chairside assisting during various procedures, managing dental equipment, and preparing treatment areas.
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
Stay current with dental terminology, medical terminology, and updates in healthcare infection prevention standards to provide informed care.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures.
Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings preferred; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus.
Proficiency in using EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and management.
Strong knowledge of dental equipment operation, X-ray techniques, and medical imaging procedures.
Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration.
Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and recognize signs requiring medical attention.
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
