Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs
Assist with various procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments
Manage electronic medical records u
Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants to ensure seamless workflow during procedures
Maintain sterilization protocols and ensure the dental operatory is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
Requirements
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting
Proven experience in general dentistry and familiarity with dental terminology and medical coding practices
Proficiency with dental software platforms scheduling, documentation, and billing purposes
Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and medical documentation standards
Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs measurement and medical history review
Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about oral health strategies
Prior experience working in dental clinics or offices is preferred; familiarity with pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics is a plus
