Job Overview:
Mendon Family Dentistry are seeking a self-motivated, knowledgeable, and dedicated Dental Hygienist for our busy dental practice. Our hygiene providers emphasize and deliver patient-centered, comprehensive, and risk-based preventive and therapeutic care. Our office strives to ensure that adequate access to dental care is available for patients of all ages, demographics, and dental needs. Looking for Tuesdays only!
Registered Dental Hygienist Qualifications:
Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories
Assist with chairside procedures during general dentistry treatments
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies
Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures
Support pediatric dentistry cases with specialized care tailored for children and adolescents
Dental Hygienist Responsibilities:
Perform NSPT, full mouth debridement, and periodontal maintenance procedures·
Administer local anesthesia (under direct supervision; hygienist must have evidence of certification)
Place locally-administered adjunctive periodontal therapy
Perform preventive care such as prophylaxis, fluoride, and dental sealants; and diagnostic care including digital intraoral and panoramic radiography
Assess each patient’s individual caries risk and deliver individualized preventive health education and dietary counseling
Educate patients on dental caries and periodontal disease etiology and risk factors·
Accurately document any findings relating to the patient’s intra- and extra-oral examination
Schedule appointments for recall/maintenance visits
Adhere to all OSHA, CDC/infection control, and state dental board regulations
Assist with other duties as needed, including sterilization and front desk

Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license
CPR/BLS certification required
Certification to administer local anesthesia
Strong clinical skills in:
Prophylaxis, scaling, and polishing
NSPT, periodontal maintenance, and full mouth debridement
Digital intraoral and panoramic radiography
Fluoride treatments and dental sealants
Experience with caries risk assessment and periodontal evaluation
Ability to treat both pediatric and adult patients
Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and accurate charting
Knowledge of and adherence to OSHA, CDC, and infection control standards
Strong patient education and communication skills
Ability to explain oral hygiene practices, disease prevention, and treatment plans
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-focused
Comfortable assisting with sterilization, scheduling, and front desk duties as needed
Reliable and able to commit to a Tuesdays-only schedule
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, patient-centered dental practice
