Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor patient health status.
Assist with medical imaging procedures like X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, documenting findings, and updating medical records accurately.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
Support general dentistry procedures by preparing the treatment area, handing instruments during procedures (four-handed dentistry), and maintaining aseptic techniques.
Review documentation for accuracy, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes.
Requirements
Proven experience working in a dental office or clinic environment with familiarity using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care.
Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude toward patients and team members.
Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles if working with children or pediatric patients.
Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and provide compassionate patient care.
Certification as a Dental Hygienist from an accredited program; current licensure in good standing according to state regulations.
Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and basic medical coding is preferred.
