Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
Assess patient medical histories and vital signs to ensure safe and effective treatment plans.
Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs.
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort.
Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance with HIPAA regulations, and proper medical coding.
Maintain detailed dental records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring all documentation is current and complete.
Requirements
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
Proven experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or dental clinic environments.
Proficiency with dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy related to oral health.
Familiarity with dental assisting procedures, chairside assisting skills, and infection control standards.
Experience using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping.
Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles for treating young patients effectively.
