Dental Hygienist

Responsibilities
Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth and removing plaque and calculus using ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately, ensuring patient safety and comfort
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental concerns to inform treatment plans
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations for optimal dental health
Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and patient comfort
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including documentation of procedures, X-ray images, and patient interactions in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
Follow infection prevention protocols by adhering to aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing infection control measures in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Requirements
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental cleanings and radiography
Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments with a focus on patient care and education
Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and appointment management
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices
Familiarity with dental equipment operation, X-ray safety protocols, and infection prevention management
Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration
Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining a high standard of patient care
