Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and the ability to educate patients on maintaining optimal oral health. As a vital member of our dental practice, you will perform dental cleanings, assist with patient assessments, and support overall dental health initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety and confidentiality standards.
Responsibilities
Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth in accordance with best practices.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories and vital signs to ensure safe treatment procedures.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies tailored to their individual needs.
Assist dentists during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to infection prevention protocols and radiation safety standards.
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate documentation of patient care and treatment plans.
Maintain infection control standards by implementing aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing healthcare infection prevention measures.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental cleanings and radiography.
Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and scheduling purposes.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health.
Experience with chairside assisting, medical imaging, and medical records management is highly desirable.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care practices.
