Responsibilities
Perform dental cleanings, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
Assess patient vital signs and review medical histories to ensure safe and effective care.
Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) using digital.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures with chairside assisting skills.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Follow infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment.
Review documentation, medical records, and treatment plans for accuracy and completeness.
Use dental terminology effectively to communicate findings and recommendations clearly.
Support pediatric dentistry cases with specialized knowledge of pediatrics and child-friendly approaches.
Skills
Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping.
Strong understanding of general dentistry procedures, dental assisting techniques, and anatomy knowledge relevant to oral health.
Experience with infection control standards, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes within a dental clinic setting.
Ability to perform patient assessment including vital signs measurement and medical coding for billing purposes.
Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance requirements.
Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and the unique needs of young patients.
