Responsibilities
Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup, ensuring thorough oral hygiene maintenance.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring accurate imaging while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing techniques, and dietary advice to promote long-term dental health.
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and workflow efficiency.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
Follow strict infection control procedures, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to uphold healthcare standards.
Skills
Proficiency with dental software systems like Eaglesoft and Dentrix for managing patient records and scheduling.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
Experience with pediatric dentistry practices, including working with children in a compassionate manner.
Skilled in chairside assisting during various dental procedures with a focus on patient comfort and safety.
Ability to accurately perform dental x-ray procedures while maintaining infection prevention standards.
Excellent communication skills for client education, team collaboration, and patient care documentation review.
Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control protocols, HIPAA compliance management, and medical coding practices for billing purposes.
