Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for each patient
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring accurate imaging while maintaining radiation safety protocols
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency and comfort
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting treatment details and medical information clearly and thoroughly
Follow infection prevention management protocols by adhering to aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing healthcare infection control standards in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Monitor and record vital signs and medical data during patient visits to support comprehensive care and safety
Review documentation for accuracy, ensure compliance with medical coding standards, and uphold patient confidentiality at all times
Experience
Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic environment with familiarity using EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation
Hands-on experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with pediatric patients is preferred
Demonstrated ability to perform dental x-rays (X-ray) safely while following radiation safety guidelines
Excellent client communication skills with a focus on patient education and building trustful relationships
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and infection prevention management
Ability to review medical records accurately, perform documentation review, and manage electronic health records efficiently
Familiarity with medical coding related to dental procedures is advantageous
