Responsibilities
Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and comfort
Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
Maintain accurate dental records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and documentation review
Requirements
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting
Proven experience in dental office environments, including general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred
Proficiency with dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review processes
Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient recordkeeping
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly
Ability to perform chairside assisting duties and handle medical imaging equipment confidently
