Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to tailor personalized care plans.
Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow.
Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their overall health.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in Dentrix.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical records with care.
Experience
Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a general or pediatric dentistry setting is preferred.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical coding standards.
Familiarity with EMR system Dentrix enhances efficiency in documentation review and patient management.
Prior experience in pediatrics or pediatric dentistry is a plus, demonstrating comfort working with children and their unique needs.
Excellent patient care skills combined with the ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments confidently.
Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and medical imaging techniques relevant to dental practice.
Certification as a licensed Dental Hygienist is required; additional certifications in infection control or radiography are advantageous.
