Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to prevent cavities and gum disease.
Assess patient oral health by examining teeth, gums, and soft tissues; document findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Take and interpret dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring proper infection control and aseptic techniques are maintained.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary habits, and preventive care strategies tailored to their individual needs.
Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration; review medical records for relevant health information.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness; assist with medical coding for billing purposes when necessary.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials.
Proven experience in dental office settings, including general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments preferred.
Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft ; familiarity with medical terminology and medical records management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about their oral health status.
