Job Description
Position Summary:
Dental Hygienist are responsible for the direct provision of oral hygiene and appropriate preventive services to dental patients of the health center. Performing procedures such as removing deposits, plaque, and stains from teeth as well as examining gums for signs of disease. In addition, a hygienist will apply fluoride or sealant solutions to freshly cleaned teeth and take x-rays for the dentist. Hygienists are also responsible for teaching patients about proper dental health and oral hygiene.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
High School diploma or equivalent
Dental Hygiene certification from accredited dental hygiene school
Current dental hygiene license from the State of Louisiana
Current Certificate for taking radiographs.
Current CPR (BLS)
Certification for other duties as required by the State of Louisiana
Experience
One to two years of dental hygiene experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires a comprehensive knowledge of oral hygiene care in outpatient settings.
Knowledge of the principles and practice of modern oral hygiene and periodontal patient care
Positive attitude and demeanor
Superior team work skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize assignments to ensure compliance with deadlines and protocols.
Good computer/dental software skills
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

Schedule: Full Time, Days, 8:00am- 4:30 pm Monday-Friday
