Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
Take X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
Maintain accurate dental records using EDR (Electronic Dental Records) systems like Ace, Open Dental or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment.
Review documentation for accuracy, update medical coding as needed, and assist with administrative tasks related to patient care.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
Proven experience in general dentistry
Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health.
Experience with EDR systems such as ACE, Open Dental or Dentrix is highly desirable.
Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
Strong communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with team members.
Ability to handle sensitive patient information following HIPAA regulations with professionalism and discretion.
