Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort.
Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while ensuring proper aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric or adult needs.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical history in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical records appropriately.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred.
Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation.
Experience using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for record keeping and documentation review.
Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and sterilization procedures.
Strong patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
