Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, performing dental cleanings, and assisting with various clinical procedures. Duties
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to prevent periodontal disease.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current health status.
Assist the dentist during procedures such as restorations, extractions, and other general dentistry treatments using aseptic techniques.
Take and develop medical imaging, including X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols.
Manage patient records accurately within EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures tailored to pediatric or adult patients.
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring proper coding for insurance claims using medical coding standards.
Maintain infection control protocols and sterilization procedures to ensure a safe clinical environment.
Support chairside assisting duties with professionalism and efficiency during various dental procedures.
Monitor vital signs when necessary and recognize signs of medical emergencies or contraindications during treatment.
Qualifications
Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations.
Proven experience with dental office software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with EMR systems preferred.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
Experience in pediatric dentistry, pediatrics, or general dentistry is highly valued.
Ability to perform chairside assisting with competence in four-handed dentistry techniques.
Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations.
Knowledge of medical imaging procedures and ability to interpret vital signs accurately.
Familiarity with medical records management, documentation review, medical coding, and HIPAA compliance standards.
