Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
Assess patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to monitor overall health status before procedures.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing techniques, and dietary advice to promote long-term dental health.
Assist dentists during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort.
Maintain accurate medical records and document treatment plans in electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic technique and sterilization of dental equipment, to uphold safety standards.
Experience
Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic environment.
Familiarity with EHR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding.
Knowledge of general dentistry procedures, pediatric dentistry practices, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control management, including HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Skilled in chairside assisting, patient assessment, and utilizing dental equipment effectively during procedures.
Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus, demonstrating patience and excellent client communication skills.
Certification in dental radiography (X-ray) is required; additional certifications in medical imaging or pediatric dentistry are advantageous.
