Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our office on Saturdays. The office is open two Saturdays a month from 8-1:30pm. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for patient care, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of dental hygiene practices. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in promoting oral health, providing preventive care, and supporting the overall patient experience. Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Conduct initial patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current oral health status.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs.
Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency.
Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Follow infection prevention protocols by adhering to aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, and infection control standards.
Monitor and operate dental equipment safely while ensuring the clinic remains compliant with healthcare infection prevention guidelines.
Support pediatric dentistry cases by applying specialized knowledge of pediatric dental care and patient management strategies.
Ensure all documentation review, medical coding, and billing procedures are completed accurately for each patient visit.
Skills
Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and billing management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
Experience with dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging, and maintaining radiation safety standards.
Expertise in infection prevention management including sterilization processes and aseptic techniques.
Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care practices.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records efficiently while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.
Ability to perform patient assessments accurately, including vital signs monitoring relevant for pediatric dentistry or general dentistry cases.
Knowledge of medical coding processes related to dental procedures for accurate documentation review and billing purposes.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and documentation review processes.
