Job Description
Dental Hygienist
Bloomington Periodontics & Dental Implants – Bloomington, Indiana - Dr. Mark Sutor & Dr. Brett Kelly
Every patient who walks through our doors is placing their trust in us. We're looking for a Dental Hygienist who can build that trust from the very first conversation and help patients feel informed, valued, and confident throughout their care.
If you're looking for a long-term career with a highly respected specialty dental practice that values professionalism, teamwork, clinical excellence, and exceptional patient care, we'd love to meet you.
Bloomington Periodontics & Dental Implants is seeking an exceptional Dental Hygienist to join our team.
Our practice has been serving Southern Indiana since 1991 under the leadership of Dr. Mark Sutor, with Dr. Brett Kelly joining our team three years ago. We are proud to be known for outstanding patient care, strong relationships with referring doctors, advanced periodontal and implant treatment, and a compassionate, team-centered culture.
Located in beautiful Bloomington, Indiana, our thriving college community offers an exceptional quality of life.
If you are looking for more than just another job—if you're seeking a place where your clinical skills, relationships with patients, and passion for dentistry truly matter—we would love to meet you.
About the Role
Our hygienists play an important role in the specialty experience. You are not simply providing a cleaning—you are an educator, advocate, clinician, and trusted partner in helping patients understand and take ownership of their periodontal health.
The ideal hygienist understands that exceptional care is both clinical and relational. You will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients, educate them about periodontal disease and prevention, provide outstanding clinical care, and work closely with our doctors and team to create individualized treatment plans and long-term maintenance strategies.
Excellence in this position means helping patients understand why their oral health matters, connecting treatment to what matters most to them, and creating an experience where patients feel genuinely cared for.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive periodontal hygiene care with a focus on prevention, education, and long-term oral health
Perform thorough periodontal assessments and document findings accurately
Provide periodontal maintenance and supportive periodontal therapy
Educate patients about periodontal disease, oral hygiene, home care, and the connection between oral and overall health
Build genuine relationships with patients and create an environment where they feel comfortable, heard, and respected
Communicate clinical findings and recommendations clearly and compassionately
Work collaboratively with our periodontists and clinical team to provide comprehensive patient care
Assist in the evaluation and maintenance of dental implants and implant-supported restorations
Reinforce appropriate home-care techniques and individualized maintenance recommendations
Recognize changes in periodontal health and communicate concerns to the doctor and clinical team
Maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation
Stay current with periodontal, implant, and hygiene techniques, technology, and evidence-based protocols
Help create a seamless, positive experience for every patient who walks through our doors
We're Looking For Someone Who
Connects with patients quickly and genuinely, making them feel like a person—not an appointment
Listens deeply before responding, giving patients the space to share what they are really experiencing
Has a passion for periodontal health and genuinely believes in the value of the care we provide
Can translate clinical information into language patients understand and appreciate
Is confident educating patients without being judgmental or clinical in a way that creates distance
Remains warm, calm, and steady when patients are anxious, overwhelmed, or hesitant
Takes pride in providing exceptional clinical care and paying attention to the smallest details
Balances clinical excellence with genuine compassion and hospitality
Is proactive, dependable, and follows through on every patient and every commitment
Enjoys working as part of a collaborative, supportive team
Is organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage a busy clinical schedule
Is committed to continued learning and professional growth
Is looking for a long-term career, not simply another job
Qualifications
Current Dental Hygiene license in the state of Indiana
Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program
Current CPR certification
Strong understanding of periodontal disease and prevention
Excellent clinical, communication, and patient education skills
Previous periodontal or specialty experience is preferred but not required
Experience with dental implants and implant maintenance is a plus
Experience with Eaglesoft is a plus
What We Offer
Competitive pay based on experience
401(k)
Paid Time Off
Discounted dental services
Supportive, experienced team
Beautiful modern specialty practice
Monday–Friday daytime schedule
Opportunities for professional growth and continuing education
The opportunity to work alongside experienced periodontists in a highly respected specialty practice
A team culture that values kindness, collaboration, accountability, and clinical excellence
Why Join Our Team?
At Bloomington Periodontics & Dental Implants, we believe technical excellence and genuine kindness go hand in hand.
