Dental Hygienist

Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment plans
Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques
Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions using clear dental terminology
Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) in Dentrix
Maintain a sterile environment by following infection control standards, including sterilization of instruments and proper disposal of sharps
Qualifications
Valid license as a Dental Hygienist with current Virginia certification
CPR/BLS current
Proven experience working in dental offices or clinics, with familiarity using EMR system Dentrix preferred
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse age groups, including pediatrics
Ability to perform medical coding and review documentation accurately for billing purposes
Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is a plus, along with experience in general dentistry settings
Demonstrated proficiency in medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review

This position will be 2 days a week at our Burgess location on Mondays and Thursday 7:30-3:00.

We are growing and are very hopeful this will become a full time position.

Pay: $48.00 - $60.00 per hour
