Duties
Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current oral health status to inform treatment plans.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Open Dental ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
Follow infection prevention management protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control standards, to safeguard patient and staff health.
Skills
Proficiency in dental software systems like Open Dental for documentation review and medical coding.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
Skilled in dental assisting techniques, including chairside assisting with various dental procedures.
Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining strict adherence to radiation safety protocols.
Excellent communication skills for client interaction, explaining procedures clearly, and fostering positive patient relationships.
Healthcare infection prevention and control expertise, including aseptic technique and adherence to HIPAA regulations for maintaining patient confidentiality.
