Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote oral health.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental x-rays to inform treatment plans.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to empower their health journey.
Operate dental equipment such as ultrasonic scalers, X-ray machines, and digital imaging systems while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like Open Dental accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to healthcare standards.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings with a focus on patient care.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health.
Proficiency in using dental software such as Open Dental for documentation and scheduling.
Familiarity with infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.
Ability to perform dental x-rays (including X-ray procedures) accurately while maintaining patient safety.
Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration.
