Duties
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing dental records to ensure accurate treatment planning
Assist with chairside procedures such as dental x-rays, medical imaging, and the preparation of dental equipment
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions using clear communication techniques
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix to document treatment details accurately and efficiently
Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures aligned with healthcare standards
Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants in four-handed dentistry to streamline patient care and enhance efficiency
Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive medical information
Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, ensuring a positive experience from start to finish
Experience
Prior experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings is highly desirable
Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing electronic health records (EHR) and documentation review
Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental care practices
Hands-on experience with dental x-ray procedures, X-ray equipment operation, and medical imaging techniques
Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including aseptic technique and infection management protocols
Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus for working with young patients effectively
Excellent client communication skills to educate patients clearly about their oral health needs
